We live in a beautiful world full of hurt and pain. Many of us have been injured by family, friends, coworkers, bosses and even strangers. As a result, it can be difficult to see the gifts of life around us. It's waaaay easier to focus on the ugly.
Thankfulness is a daily choice. An active decision to see the lovely in each moment, day, and person.
On rough days, full of frustrations or pain, nature is a Godsend. A simple look around with some deep breaths can shift my mindset and even my physical state. I instantly remember that I do live in a beautiful world, filled with incredible creatures and forces of nature. I can lift my gaze off the ugly and instead focus on the pure and lovely.
The ugly will not always stop, but I can choose to fill my mind with the good. I use to (and still do at times) want to change everything and everyone for the better. Recognizing that I have no control over others or many situations I face, has given me the opportunity to release expectations and start kicking bitterness or resentment out the door. I can instead spend that time and energy filling my mind with truth and thankfulness.
Take a few moments today to step outside and bask in the earth around you. Thank the Giver of it all and remember He didn't have to include all the details and fascinating quirks you see all around you, but He did. Savor and soak it in. Allow the power of the ocean waves, the height and roughness of the mountains, or the delicate complexity of flowers remind you that nothing is too hard, complicated, or painful for Him. He can carry it for you, so don't bother overthinking it. Give it to Him and fill your mind with thankful thoughts.
À votre santé!
