Quality safe skin care is vital to your health and well-being—it's worth your investment. Why? Let's talk about your skin for a minute.
What is the purpose of skin? Let's think about this! Skin is the last barrier between the world and your insides, meaning your vital organs, blood, and... well all the other important players that keep you alive and functioning optimally. It protects you from natural factors like weather and fights man-made toxins on a daily basis. Basically, it's job is to keep you safe and in one piece!
Skin is very absorbent, so, unfortunately, some of these natural factors and toxins do push through, effecting at least the first few layers, if not more. This is why it's important to make time for self-care. Your skin is a gift and a hard working member of your body. What you put in, you most certainly will get out. Which leads me to my topic of choice, safe, clean, restorative, and nourishing skin care.
Your skin care product choices matter, for many reasons, but let's focus on you and your health right now. As I mentioned above, your skin absorbs everything you place or rub on it. Summary: the ingredients in your products can really affect your body's well-being. Many of you are familiar with the harsh, dangerous, and downright disgusting ingredients found in most big brand products. I often hear and read about many of your frustrations with the current situation, FDA regulations, etc. Yes, it's confusing and, yes, even upsetting at times, but don't be discouraged. There are many wonderful brands out there creating beautiful clean products!
If this is a new area for you, start reading labels. My quick advice: if you don't recognize, understand, or trust the ingredients... don't buy it. Treat your skin well and make its job of protecting you easier by choosing safe, clean, restorative and nourishing products.
Since I'm often asked for advice on this topic, I decided to share a skin care series over the next month. I will be diving into the products I use on a daily basis—talking about the ingredients, the sourcing, the application, and even the timeframe for skin improvement. I will also be sharing a few of my self-care practices to improve the skin. These posts are not sponsored. The products I'm sharing have won my heart purely and simply because they are high-quality, clean, and effective. I try to support local makers, but I also use a couple bigger brands that have a few great options. It's all about reading those labels, dear friends! I can't wait to share my daily products with you :).
If you're already on the journey of keeping your beauty cupboard clean, then I'd love to hear about your loves and favorites along the way too. I'm always open to hearing about product finds. Feel free to share in the comments below as the series unfolds! Let's treat our skin well together :).
À votre santé!
