Facial skin is delicate and precious. It cannot be treated like the rest of our skin. A gentle touch, regimented care, and the application of high-quality products are paramount. Last week we discussed the benefits of using serums, oil and water or aloe-based. Though it is possible to use both a serum and an oil moisturizer, I prefer to follow my serums with a rich creamy moisturizer.
Remember most serums are not meant to be used for hydration. They're simply an extra infusion of skin boosters, almost like taking supplements/vitamins/herbs through the skin. Once you've applied your serum of choice (see my last post for recommendations), a moisturizer is required. I have combination skin that errors on the dry side, so I need moisturizers that can penetrate the layers of my skin and maintain moisture. I want my skin to remain soft and protected throughout the day and deeply hydrated through the night. For those of you that have a more normal complexion, a lighter option is quite acceptable.
My current day cream and I have had a long romance. I've only strayed once. It was last year when I thought I could potentially find the same level of product for a better price. Silly me. I returned within a few months and haven't looked back since. The Evan Healy line has a few options, but my daily dance is with the Blue Chamomile. The lovely ingredients will soothe your mind, the soft floral aroma your heart, and the luxurious texture your soul.
If you're new to Evan Healy products, take a peek at their authenticity and depth of care. They are far beyond certified organic, following standards that include sourcing from family farms, tribal villages, and self-governed women's cooperatives, Oregon Tilth certified ingredients, cold-pressing their oils, and producing all their skin care in small batches by hand.
For my nightly regimen, I prefer to use a cream that provides deeper restoration. John Masters Organics' Mandarin Maximum Moisture provides a unique collection of nourishment, hydration, and cell renewal, all in one. Needless to say, I'm a fan! In the evening, I will gently apply a thin layer across my entire face post-serum—one small blueberry-sized dollop is enough coverage. This little tube will take you farther than you think possible, so don't be discouraged by the quantity.
John Masters is a larger brand, but they have some wonderful clean, safe, organic, and effective products that I just love, including their aloe-based serum that I share here. Oh and, as a bonus, their Sea Mist Sea Salt Spray with Lavender is the perfect solution for that post-beach look we all want 24/7. You're welcome.
If you would like more insight into my daily care rituals, I share my morning and nightly regimen here, along with all of my current product suggestions. It's a helpful tool if you're seeking step-by-step guidance. The skin care series will continue next week, with talk around hydrosols and toners coming up next!
À votre santé!
