Overall Themes
A weekend of human behavior at its most extremes. Last week I mentioned this past weekend would hold a lot of reflection on our humanity as a whole. The good, the bad, the confusing in between, it’s all floating around heavily right now. Life doesn’t stop for tragedy and pain and it can leave us in a space of disillusionment, dissociation or anger.
This energy is continuing until Wednesday, but with the ever-curious Gemini moon to flavor it. Intellectualization of our emotions may be the unconscious coping mechanism, as a result. Once we hit that Cancer new moon on the 25th though and in the days to follow, it’ll be necessary for you to let the emotions hit your body. You can then express through motion or action, like a good run or a good weep. If you don’t, when the Leo moon hits on Friday, all that stored and intellectualized emotion could show up as anger or internal frustration that most likely will come out in your go-to childhood-patterned way.
With the Cancer new moon we are invited to review how we are mothering ourselves. If like me, motherhood or being mothered has pain around it, this can be a stark time, but hopefully since I’m giving you the heads up, you can prepare a bit.
Keep Wednesday through next Tuesday softer. Speak to the little one inside you that wanted and longed for that deep acceptance and unconditional love from your mother. I do this by visualizing the most precious and darling little girl that i feel compelled to care for or I’ll recall pictures of little Jess that I love. In response to any fears, hurts, worries, confusion or anger that come up, I speak to myself in a comforting voice and gently hug myself or rub my hand over my chest center and say things like “I hear you sweetheart.” “You are safe.” “I know everything looks scary right now, but I’ve got you.” “ You’re allowed to feel this. You won’t lose yourself. I’m here.” It can sound silly, but it’s remarkably helpful and soothing.
Also, wrap yourself up the way a mother with the gift for unconditional love and deep nurturing would wrap you up – with nourishing foods, lots of rest and sleep, encouraging words, and strong protection of your worth and energy. Lean into stillness, with this grace as your foundation. In the stillness, you’ll find yourself once again. Clarity will come. Emotions will settle. Your body will rest easy. Even if the world is on fire, you will find your strength and resilience from this new internal mothering. You will embody exactly what you’ve needed and it will show.
Once you’ve savored this well, let yourself play and be light to balance it all out. Stillness is lovely until it creates extended isolation. Find your balance between the two in your own unique way this weekend. You are loved. You can feel. You can move forward. You can play. You can live.
Moon Schedule
Watch your body. Observe and note how it reveals what you need to address or resolve as the moon moves through the zones of your body. The moonlight is spotlighting your body and focusing attention. Whatever energy the moon is dancing in will highlight that same energy in the body. You will see either a rise in radiance or an unveiling of imbalance in the zones of the body connected to the earth’s current energy. It’s a free litmus test. If this sounds woo-woo, remember it’s just because you weren’t taught this in depth in school, but we are discussing physics here. Everything on the earth and in the solar system around the earth emits energy/magnetism. This energy/magnetism activates your body at a cellular level. The system of astrology is simply an ancient way of understanding how all this impacts us. An archaic language is used that can, until you are familiar with it, feel foreign and even mystical, but it’s simply labeling and categorizing action and effect, like any other system you’re more accustomed to understanding. June 23rd - Moon in Gemini:
Tonight and tomorrow, I encourage you to dive into some breathwork, whether that’s guided or simply you slowing down to notice your inhale and exhale. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth, often, over the course of the day to ease any congestion in the mind and in the lungs. The body needs extra oxygen these days to keep up with the intense mental and verbal processing that you will be navigating. The brain gobbles up its fuel (glucose and ketones) in energy like this, so you don’t have to be physically active to create an energy deficit in the body. In your human design chart, under digestion, you can see whether you have an active or passive brain. If you have an active brain like me, then you need A LOT of nourishment (nutrient-dense food and hydrating mineral-rich liquids) on Gemini days.
June 23rd - Moves Into Cancer with a New Moon:
Ahhh the refreshing energy of a new moon. Cancer is tied physically to the chest, including the stomach and lower lymphatics. Emotionally, it’s connected to family and the process of attachment. It is the energy of care and nourishment embodied by the Mother archetype. Look at your chart to see what house (areas in your life) that Cancer (type of energy) comes forward for you. For example, Cancer is my 7th house of partnership and my descendant, meaning it'll bring up past/present romantic and platonic partnership themes as well as enhance my natural foundational Cancerian energy. I often receive feedback that I am a very calming, mothering personality, and this descendant placement is where that originates. Your descendant is your core. What you’ve already mastered and just flows out of you subconsciously. Where is Cancer in your map? This will also show when and where the physical element will express most strongly. So for me, I may find that my stomach feels the impact of what I’m processing through with my partnerships and family/attachment style. This could feel like indigestion if I’m not prepared, losing my appetite or even becoming ravenous. I take this all in stride and respond as my body needs. Instead of assuming something is wrong, I acknowledge that this is my body’s current state in light of the energetic weather and allow it to pass through as needed. I know I’ll be good on the other side of it all.
Lastly, New Moons are a beautiful time to observe you or your loved one’s menstrual cycle. If you’re flowing around this time, then you’re in a creation cycle (P.S. Cancer season is THE most potent time for fertility and making babies, so act accordingly. If you are pregnant, really focus on building up the strength of your uterus during this time. Cancer rules the uterus, only when pregnant, so this is a time you can really fortify to hold your babe solidly!). If you’re ovulating, then you’re in a healing cycle. Both are beautiful and give you information on what your body is prioritizing in this season.
June 27th - Moon Moves Into Leo:
Stepping into the heart and the gallbladder with this moon, we see emotional state + need for expression. Without healthy release in the days prior, you might find yourself very angry or bitter at this time. Physically, that can feel like nausea, pain under the right ribcage, body or mind anxiety/panic, waking up between 1-3 AM and can look like heat, rashes, hive spots, breakouts, and constipation or floating light brown stool.
Cover your right abdomen and side body with castor oil overnight (wear a tee you don’t care about to prevent staining or stickiness) to support your liver/gallbladder clearance.
Write down what is most aggravating and frustrating about life right now and then tear up the paper and burn it. As you burn, it declare your prayers out loud – inviting in release, forgiveness, clarity and wisdom.
If you have fiery energy in you, like Leo, Sagittarius or Aries, on your sun, moon, mars or rising, then definitely MOVE. SWEAT. Go kickboxing or punch a pillow/punching bag. You’ll feel AMAZING afterwards. Ease through this weekend and even if you have to move the body like I suggest, invite in the stillness I mentioned above in the mind. Mental quiet and focus can actually often be found through physical exertion so go for it!
