Garden Mornin’ Egg Bites
beauty breakfast series
The perfect bite for those Spring mornings when you want something solid, but clean. Even better if you forage your parsley, cilantro, sage, oregano, and spinach straight from a kitchen garden. Soak in that morning light, let it touch your eyes, and effortlessly encourage your circadian rhythm back to its natural flow. Breakfast is so much more than just a chore. It’s the baseline for a joy-filled, productive, and creative day. A sunshine-filled breakfast can also almost always guarantee a solid sleep in the evening by lining up your internal clock with the earth’s. Good beauty sleep begins in the mornin’.
Make a muffin sheet of 12 bites a week and you’ll have an easy way to awaken your body every day. Get to know your bites. Add as much sea salt and pepper as you desire. Your body will soak up the flavor and the much-needed minerals in the morning. May these little bits of sunny herbs lift your mornin’ spirits!
Glow Beauty Balls
beauty breakfast series
I rarely have felt the desire for a big breakfast. Most of my life, I have preferred slow mornings, and that includes a gentle entrance into food as well. I always begin my morning with a tonic and then move into solid food. Some days require a quicker get up and go. I got in the habit of grabbing protein bars, but I noticed that my hair and skin started to show signs of malnourishment, so I decided to make my own version. The balls are a bite-sized way to fill the body with rich nutrients in a quick and easy fashion - though I do still encourage savoring. If you can, sit and take a breath between each bite to receive the most benefit (even if that is in the car).
I have a few versions of the ball now, but today I am going to share my first “Glow Beauty Ball”. Its key ingredients include Black Sesame Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds and Walnuts. Full of good fats for your brain, high levels of iron and copper for the immune system and skin, and calcium for your bone structure and teeth, this one may become a classic in your fridge. I do love to add a clean protein powder to them to ramp up the protein in each ball. Body Health’s Perfect Aminos is my preference. They taste lovely without the powder if you prefer a simpler whole foods version. Either way, you are getting nourishment in and communicating stability and steadiness to your body - the main goal of Beauty Breakfasts!
Keep these stored in your fridge. The recipe makes 12, but you can double or triple it and pack your freezer with batches!
Toasty Blueberry Protein Pancakes
beauty breakfast series
Pancakes are pure joy. They bring a levity that speaks of free, slow sunshine-filled mornings with nowhere to be. Many of the sweet memories I hold from childhood involve the pop of warm juice from a bursting blueberry-filled pancake or the soft comforting texture of a warm banana coin nestled in the perfectly cooked cinnamon-rich batter. I can recall, even now, the moment I tasted real maple syrup for the first time. It was heavenly, so dark, rich, husky, with an essence of bark that brought a vision of evergreen-covered mountains. I was transported and never looked back.
Made in the moment or ahead of time and frozen, pancakes offer a taste of goodness to the start of any day. The quality of the taste relies on the quality of the ingredients. Choose farm-fresh blueberries, pick heritage and grain-free pork, and keep your flours in the freezer for longer storage. May this simple and nourishing recipe gift you moments of bliss and delight.
